Letters for the Good Daughter Who’s Had Enough

Maybe you love your family deeply.

Maybe you love where you come from.

And maybe you’re also tired of being the reasonable one. The accommodating one. The daughter who understands everyone else’s feelings before she understands her own.

Not Your Good Daughter is a newsletter about what happens when you begin questioning all the things you were taught a “good daughter” should be.

The guilt when you say no.

The strange discomfort of disappointing your parents.

The pressure to be successful, grateful, agreeable, available, and somehow never too much.

The exhaustion of being the strong one.

And the quiet question underneath all of it:

Who would I be if I stopped trying to be good?

These are letters about family, culture, guilt, anger, ambition, boundaries, identity, and becoming your own person without pretending the people you love don’t matter.

Especially for immigrant daughters, multicultural women, and anyone who grew up learning that being loved and being good were sometimes a little too closely connected.

Consider this the quieter corner of Not Your Good Daughter.

The YouTube channel is where I talk.

This is where I write.

Sometimes I’ll send you an essay. Sometimes an idea I can’t stop thinking about. Sometimes something practical you can actually try. And occasionally, I’ll tell you about a worksheet, guide, or resource I’ve made for this work.

But mostly, I want these emails to feel like opening a letter from someone who understands the strange, complicated work of becoming yourself.

If you’re figuring out who you are when you’re no longer trying to be everybody’s good daughter, come join me.

No performing. No becoming a better good daughter.

We’re trying something else now.
